Vandals broke into photographer Kamille Lévêque Jégo's exhibition 'Cyprine Benzin' overnight, destroying more than thirty photographs and videos and covering the walls with crude graffiti.
In April 2025 the artist arrived expecting another day of her show exploring femininity, sexuality and female identity. Instead she found devastation: over thirty works ruined, surviving pieces defaced, and phalluses sprayed across the walls.
Many observers read the attack as a deliberate attempt to silence the artist's message. Yet the destruction backfired — the exhibition drew international attention and became a broader conversation about misogyny, censorship and artistic expression. Sometimes vandalism tells us as much about the attacker as it does about the artwork.
