One of the great imperial museums of Europe, the Kunsthistorisches Museum guards the Habsburg collections. In May 2003, a thief scaled scaffolding and climbed through a window to steal Benvenuto Cellini's 'Saliera,' a Renaissance gold salt cellar and the museum's most precious object. Recovered in 2006 after the thief was traced, it is now considered priceless.
