The Musée Marmottan Monet holds the largest collection of Monet's works. In October 1985, armed robbers stormed the museum in daylight and stole nine paintings, including 'Impression, Sunrise' — the very canvas that gave Impressionism its name. The works were recovered in 1990 in Corsica.
