In 2019 thieves cut power to a street light, breached a window, and stole a trove of 18th-century diamond jewellery from Dresden's Green Vault. Much of it was recovered in 2022 under a court deal.

The Grünes Gewülbe holds one of Europe's greatest treasure collections. The raiders smashed a display case with an axe and escaped in under ten minutes, making off with pieces set with hundreds of diamonds.

Members of the Berlin-based Remmo clan were arrested and tried; as part of a plea arrangement, a large portion of the jewellery was returned in late 2022, though some stones remain missing or damaged.
