During an exhibition of Nick Dwyer's installation 'Shadow Searching: ChatGPT Psychosis', a fellow student reportedly consumed part of the artwork — turning a conceptual piece into his own hungry performance.
Contemporary art has inspired countless questions from visitors. One student apparently answered them with an appetite, eating a portion of Dwyer's installation and, in the process, staging an unplanned performance of their own.
The incident spread online and reignited the familiar debate over audience participation, artistic intent, and the occasionally blurry boundary between interacting with an artwork and destroying it. Contemporary art often asks viewers to think differently. Occasionally someone takes the invitation a little too literally.
