Housed in Dresden's Royal Palace, the Green Vault is among the oldest museums in Europe, displaying the treasures of the Saxon electors. In November 2019, thieves cut the power, forced a window grille, and smashed a display case, making off with 18th-century diamond jewellery of incalculable historic value. Several members of the Remmo crime family were later convicted, and much of the haul was recovered.
