Kunsthal Rotterdam

Designed by Rem Koolhaas, the Kunsthal hosts temporary exhibitions rather than a permanent collection. In October 2012, thieves entered before dawn and stole seven paintings — including works by Picasso, Matisse, Monet, Gauguin, and Freud — from a loan exhibition. Some of the works are believed to have been burned by a suspect's mother to destroy evidence.
